Mama Crow

Something for national poetry month...

Mama Crow

Oh Mama Crow
atop your nest
this stormy April day,
your small dark head peeps through the boughs
that bend and twist and sway.

You seem to ride each wave of wind
with calm determination.
No little gust will keep you from
your task of incubation.

So hang on tight,
the skies will soon
be blue, and nests will dry.
Just in time for baby crows to
hatch and grow and fly.

Lovely, it's been a wild few days here too. A crow swooped down by me today, it's huge wings just missing the ground and it sailed along so close to the ground, amazing. I just LOVE your little Vimeo video, brilliant, I'm trying to fathom how to share it now :)

Whan that Aprill, with his shoures soote...Chaucer got that right! Or maybe it should have been "Wild, that April...!

Crows are kind of a unifying bird of all nations it seems. We all have them! I find it thrilling too, when they get so close.

Hmmm, the vimeo video, I barely figured out how to share it myself- the thing miraculously embedded itself!

Keep warm and dry. We have had thunder and lightning ALL day. I'm hoping for a better tomorrow.
